20-June-2007 get TiVO on Virgin Media V+ boxes NOW!One of the regulars on the Tivo Community Forum who is also a Virgin Media V+ customer has launched a petition to get Virgin Media to license the TiVo software for their V+ service. The TiVo software has recently been re-written by TiVo to be portable to various generic DVR hardware. The new software is already in the process of being rolled out to Comcast customers in the US who have Motorola DVR hardware and a deal has been announced to do the same for Cox Communications customers who have a mixture of Motorola and Scientific Atlanta hardware. Most importantly for UK customers, the Scientific Atlanta DVR used by Cox in the US is the same model as the DVR used by Virgin Media in the UK for it's V+ service! So in theory the TiVo software should be able to be added to the Virgin Media box as an OTA (over the air) upgrade for customers who already have the V+! What more can we say?
