PVR10UK Replacement Power Supply
UK TiVo power supplies are, unfortunately, not the most rugged or
long-lasting power supplies money can buy. So it's not surprising that
after 3 or 4 years of continual use some of them start to show signs
of ageing. If you are experiencing unexpected reboots - especially
after installing a new drive or a cachecard - it's likely that your
TiVo's old PSU isn't up to the job. Fortunately, the reason they don't
last forever is because they are cheap! TiVo PSU's are very
easy to replace and there is no soldering required. Even if your PSU
seems OK, at this price it's well worth getting a spare. And if
you purchase a spare PSU at the same time as a drive upgrade or
cachecard, shipping
for the PSU is free!

Genuine UK TiVo power supply
Instructions
Replacing the PSU is a 5-10 minute job, with no soldering required.
- Unplug the TiVo from the mains and leave for 20 mins for the capacitors in the PSU to discharge
- Open the TiVo case with a torx T10 screwdriver
- Bend open the 2 metal lugs holding the top of the fan in place and remove the fan
- Unplug the hard drive power cable from the PSU
- Cut the white cable tie holding the other cables from the PSU in place
- Unplug the motherboard power cable from the motherboard socket
- Undo the T10 screw holding one corner of the PSU board in place
- With needle-nosed pliers, straighten the metal lugs holding the other corners of the PSU board in place.
- Gently lever the PSU away from the back panel about 3mm then pull up and out!
NB. On some machines this can be a bit tricky requiring a bit of wiggling and twisting if the metal lugs are "stuck" in the slots in the PSU board.
- Fit the new PSU by reversing these instructions
If you buy a PSU at the same time as a drive upgrade or
cachecard then you
can benefit from a £5 postage discount.
